P+R Park & Ride Munich uses Aura Long Life
P+R Park & Ride Munich in Germany is using Aura Long Life. «Currently 75 per cent of all lights fitted in P+R multi-storeys and underground garages are Aura lamps. Unlike other lamps, I can be sure that their colour temperature will remain stable.»
P+R Park & Ride GmbH has provided all the P+R facilities in the Munich metropolitan area since 1995. As a service provider that forms the link between private/commercial transport and the public transport network, P+R Park & Ride GmbH aims to provide local residents with the most attractive, user-friendly concept for parking and car park management possible, as well as optimum connections. This also means maintaining and monitoring the facilities, as well as offering the customer a light and friendly atmosphere.
The P+R GmbH engineering team, led by Manfred Zehetbauer, authorised representative and Operations Manager, has been experimenting with various lighting concepts for several years. Their aim was to select a particularly photometric solution for maximum customer benefit, while keeping maintenance costs under control.
The choice is Aura Long Life
«Initial contact was made at the Light and Building Fair in 2003. We were looking for an efficient lighting solution and were interested in the Aura Long Life lamps. The prospect of replacing the lamps only every 6 or 7 years instead of every 3 years was very enticing. Ultimately, a large-scale replacement operation involves a lot of effort. First we have to cordon off a large area where the lamps are going to be replaced, as it is our policy not to replace lamps above parked cars, because the risk of a part falling and damaging one of the cars is too great. Depending on the height of the ceiling, the team is instructed to work from ladders or operating platforms,» says Manfred Zehetbauer, describing the procedure. In addition, the long lifetime of the lamps and the associated reduction in the replacement cycle means that far less raw materials are used in production and a lot less waste is generated at the end of their useful life – making an important contribution to the protection of the environment at a time of increasingly scarce resources.
«Currently 75 per cent of all lights fitted in P+R multi-storeys and underground garages are Aura lamps. Unlike other lamps, I can be sure that their colour temperature will remain stable. I have already found that another manufacturer’s lamps were unable to attain the correct colour temperature because of a low outside temperature and instead gave off a pink light,» says Manfred Zehetbauer.
