Klinikum Nord Hospital in Germany uses Aura Signette Long Life
Klinikum Nord hospital in Germany works with quality on the services provided by the hospital. Clearly this also applies to the technical equipment, including the lighting. That’s why they are using Aura Light as a provider of their lighting.
With more than 7,000 staff and a total of 39 clinics and institutes, Klinikum Nürnberg is the largest municipal hospital in Germany. Since 1998 it has been run under the new legal form of an autonomous municipally owned business.
The very highest requirements
The Klinikum, which is also a teaching hospital of the University of Erlangen-Nürnberg, has more than 1,342 beds in its northern component, the Klinikum Nord, alone. In view too of a prevailing environment of health and hospital reform, the very highest requirements are placed on the efficiency and patient-oriented quality of the services provided by the hospital. Clearly this also applies to the technical equipment, including the lighting.
Lamp replacement is not straightforward
To illuminate the staircases and landings that are without daylight, the manager of the technical department, Christian Pflock, decided to install illuminated ceilings. This diffuse and relatively shadow-free lighting is similar to daylight and has a very pleasant feel to it. Lamp replacement in luminous ceilings is not however so straightforward. The ceiling panels have to be opened to gain access to the fluorescent lamps. Due to the considerable weight of the glass components, several fitters and a working platform are needed for the task. For this reason, Aura Long Life fluorescent lamps are used here. The fact that their service life is three times as long means that savings of two replacement cycles can be made and outlay in terms of staff and costs kept to a minimum.
Why was Aura Long Life chosen?
The fact that their service life is three times as long means that savings of two replacement cycles can be made and outlay in terms of staff and costs kept to a minimum. Aura Signette Long Life lamps are used, which have a special diffuser layer in their outer tube. This means that in illuminated ceilings even and optimised illumination can be achieved, preventing unwanted dazzle or striping effects.
